Adobe has a wide range of software that does vastly different things. If you are into photo editing, you really don’t need Premier Pro and a bunch other apps. What Adobe should have done is to make different packages and drastically lower the price. Also get rid of that cancellation fee. Or people can just pirate it. 😊 pirating is bad, it hurts everyone, but an exception could be justified for Adobe.

Thank you for this video. I wasted so much time trying to be a designer and then beating myself up about failing to be one, changed careers to an entirely different field (science), but still couldn't give up art, even though it's still somewhat painful to reconnect with and find my true identity. And wow, I probably never fully realized there was a difference. Yes, doing pure art is a lot harder to get paid for, but trying to do what you aren't wired for is so not worth it. I wish someone told me this 10 years ago.

I have been binging your videos for the past week now both old and new ones. Your words have hit me in so many places that I’m honestly shocked, I’m 21 and throughout school I was never taught the fundamentals, I don't even know what the defiant list of fundamentals are because I have never been told. I love drawing dragons, landscapes, and fantasy maps, I feel like I am stuck and I don’t know how to step forward or where to even step forward to. I feel like everything I create is awful and just isn't what I want it to be, I feel like everyone else is far better than me. Listening to you both fills me with determination and absolute fear, I’m scared to step outside this bubble because I don't know what to work on to step outside of it, I am used to only ever being told what to do, I don't know how to make a decision for myself.

This was mainly the core reason I dropped Adobe stuff nearly 10 years ago now, and the stupid thing on my end. I never upgraded from 7.0 till I got a student suit to use in collage in 2014, and even then I was still using 7.0 over it. I think I officially stopped using 7.0 when my old laptop finally stopped working. I've actually been using Paint Tool Sai for 15 years now, and as bare bones as that software is, it only costs $50 when I bought it. Halfway through collage, I came across Clip Studio Paint and purchased their one time license during a black Friday sale. These are the two pieces art software I still use to this day. I honestly hope the industries move away from Adobe, 'cause I don't think they are even worth the time of day anymore.

Corel was always an option but never up to par, it is interesting everyone is turning to Affinity and Corel has little to no mention.

Never have I felt happier and more free than when I dropped Adobe several years ago knowing this was the direction they'd be going. I honestly feel vindicated against all the hate and folks screaming "there's no better app or service for artists." Well, who's laughing now?

First at all Adobe isn’t what we thought anymore. Who and where are the creative innovators now and back since the beginning. It’s now are multimillion dollar enterprise, leading by business managers, your are right they gave a fxck all the time because the doesn’t needing us anymore or anytime, they make money. And now the know the whole industry will be changed through AI, people now and in the next decades will loose ore will never have the will to struggle in the way of the old school Samurai (analog) Artist back then (80“) like H. Sorayama. In school you will maybe have a class to prompt right or something like that. You see that the prompters these days impress the most of the people now, and the truth is that the people who will make digital Art for the „Job“, especially with the high budget, will have the job faster done, nobody cares about real struggling Artplay anymore at all, just doing more jobs than before (And the quality is very high because of the kind of program AI is, you can’t compete against something that ist a lot of humans at once, at all). So, so as an old school creative, I say: The next’s x gen creatives, (all digital possible jobs) will be forced to use AI, if you wanna playing the game. You are right, it’s sadly a bad thing how we woken up, but it doesn’t help, we must going on. These managers are really good informed, they don’t care about the „hover pencil function“ now isn’t implemented. That’s something you can implementing in just a blink of an eye a e. Prior is to make ist save with all the resources to be one at the top of the AI dawn. Every other business down there will don’t have the biggest cake or nothing. You know Nvidiiia. So a which could be to be something like that. We as artists want doing just what we like to draw or paint, we never will get everything we like to have, we just use, as a „User“ / „Programs“ or vs Enterprises „MCP“, what we get into our arsenal. Till AI help use to make our own tool, maybe some day maybe not. But if you had the struggle to get through the art of analog interaction with pencil and paper and keeping your fun and meditative pencil exercises alive, you can be making art play on a physical piece of paper. Didn’t help to cry or being upset down. We just Artist of our time. So let’s get our assesss back down to play. ;)

0/10 I changed my full CC subscription to just InDesign a few weeks back. And the only reason I’m keeping InDesign is because I don’t have time to learn Affinity right now and not all the settings switch over from InDesign files. Been using Procreate for drawing instead of Photoshop for years.

Even before watching this I need to vent. Installing adobe was the biggest mistake, most annoying thing, I cannot delete it from my Mac upper menu bar and to make it more annoying they make sure the notification is there to annoy me even more every time I turn my computer on 😤

I just cancelled by long term subscription with Adobe and switched to Davinci studio. Lightroom I switched to Capture One. Couldn't be happier. Good by Adobe for life!

The whole point in art is that you have control over the outcome. AI does its own thing and you have to accept the result.

So what's different than what has happened so far? Any article, photo and video online, on the web, scraped already. For their product. Their brain. How about all the articles written and already stolen. Far more dramatic. Did you do any videos on that? Or maybe you didn't care until it affected your world.

2/10. I work at a school where our art class can't afford to get a Photoshop subscription. It strikes me as the epitome of stupid that they would price students out with their model, since so many more kids would graduate and use it if they were taught how. Meanwhile we have a class that can use the entire Autodesk suite under an educational license...

Corel Painter is what you should take a look at. Choose the right tools. PS is not made for that and probably will not be too soon... most digital painters use that, not PS.....

1 Shared Interest, hence subscribing. And torrents are still available, without the AI features, hence still using them, but recently bought Affinity 2 suite - The launch deal was a awesome value, didn't think twice

Adam, I agree 100%, but for one thing: that Photoshop is still necessary. I'm an art teacher, I teach comics in a fine art academy here in Italy (other than being an illustrator, a storyboard artist and a concept artist). I teach and use Clip Studio and completely switched from Adobe. The only thing these apps can't do and Adobe does right is RGB to CMYK. Don't know why, even if there's Affinity which is my go to for desktop publishing since I finished my studies back in 2017. So yeah, I guess it's time for a complete switch. #adobemerda

They tricked me into a year long expensive subscription and wouldn't allow me to cancel it until the last month of the sub. Which they hoped I would miss after a year, but thankfully I put it in my phone's calendar. They are greedy scumbags.

I just bought my first mirrorless camera. The r8, and one of the first things I did was look into getting photoshop. When I saw it was a subscription service, they lost my interest in their business. A subscription could be an option, but if I can't buy the program outright, it's a deal breaker! I don't need an extra monthly bill! Not to mention the screening of personal photos!

I also teach digital illustration, and all my students use CSP. It's just so much better. I cancelled my Adobe Subscription this month and will also turn to CSP. Thank you for speaking out on this issue with the ramping greed of Adobe!

I've had a pirated copy of Photoshop CS3 for years and not once did I even consider paying for anything Adobe related. Subscription models for software have always bothered me. The first time I actually noticed it was World of Warcraft. Why would I pay for a game and then CONTINUE PAYING MORE AND MORE just to play? No thank you.

You are so right. I tried Photoshop on my iPad and it was so infuriating that it was unusable. I left within minutes and went back to Procreate.

Affinity photo file would not open in photoshop so I can’t send a layered file to my clients ?! So adobe will have to have an opt out option.

I used to be excited about AI, back in the '90s. Now I hate, hate, hate it. The fruits of AI are spying, censorship, and dehumanization.

Software companies used to put all their ingenuity into product improvements, to attract users. After a while, the products were pretty darn good, and did pretty much anyone could ask of them - and any further "improvements" were just frustrating annoyances. Now they put all their ingenuity into using frustrating annoyances to trap their users.

Graphic designer and art director in advertising and digital here. Unfortunately, Adobe is the goat at my job, all their AI features helped me save time like crazy. Instead of having to look for hours for materials online on stock, I just AI prompt in seconds for some projects that are not big and are just time sinks. Its still early days of it so it is lacking adjustable layers enough so that I cant use it on half the projects but overall, for my graphic design work, photoshop is all i need. I hope they burn in hell though, their subscription package is shit that I cant have a design package, they force all of us into their 40 apps bs payment. What angers a lot of us right now is their updated terms and conditions, fuck them.

I have to say I started with Photoshop 4 and it didn't have layers yet, and I've seen some major upgrades do the app. But, as you saied, the last 10 versions of it haven't improved anything on my digital art work. It always looks the same. And I research to know what's new on Photoshop every time a new version comes out. And this new AI policies are just insulting. NOBODY that I know who works with Adobe products wants AI stealing your art style. Best regards from Portugal

I totally agree with you, especially about the whole AI thing and how Adobe just doesn't want to care about its user base. Honestly though, and I'm not talking about Adobe now, but in general, AI is here to stay. Instead of fighting it or avoiding it like pest, we should learn to use it to some extent. There should be some ground rules to use AI ethically. I mean, the market is moving towards AI, and if artists don't adapt and learn how to use it, they'll end up getting left behind and have less power in the job market in the very near future.

Why this outrage against Adobe is logically flawed: 1. Adobe isn’t the only company that has such policies. Any company that transfers data has something similar. 2. If your art work is in public facing view , it’s been added to an AI training model since these LLM scrape the internet through proxies. 3. This isn’t new, not a new policy, it’s been there for a decade or more, so the outrage is your own ignorance. 4. Apple, Microsoft, Google, Meta.. etc all do similar functions in the backend that monitors your software usage and communicates to their servers , gathering data on you. 5. Thinking that low level user and customers carry value or influence.. not really . Corporations make majority or their money from licenses bought by bigger companies, movie studios, large design firms.. etc. Also do we need every UA-camr to make a video about this.. are you that low on content ideas? I don’t agree with Adobe’s actions but I’m not going to pretend I was blind to the truth , how these companies operate..

You missing the big picture bro. Check out End-to-end encyption is dead. In shorts, devices will have local Ai, this is the reason Adobe is training their Ai, they want to get on top of this thing.
